Excelavon is a reference site for spreadsheet formulas. It explains Excel functions and everyday tasks in plain English and offers free tools that write a working formula for your own cells.
What you will find here
- Formula tools. Seven in-browser tools for explaining formulas, building lookups, date differences, loan payments, percentages, date serial numbers and column letters. Each one shows the formula to paste, not only the answer.
- Guides. Step-by-step explanations of functions, common tasks, charts and pivot tables, error messages and VBA macros.
How the site is run
Excelavon is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Microsoft. Guides are written to explain how features behave in current versions of Excel, and they say so when a function needs a recent version, such as XLOOKUP, FILTER or TEXTSPLIT.
How guides are written, checked and corrected is set out in the editorial policy. Fixes are listed on the corrections page.
Advertising
The site may show advertising to cover its costs. Advertising never decides what a guide recommends, and no guide is paid for.
